Overview

The department ensures that exploration and production of petroleum resources are carried out using good oil field practices with attention to safety of the people and the equipment, protection of the environment and conservation of the resources.

In carrying out its mandate the department works with the Legal and Land, Benefits, Safety and Environment departments and liaise with other responsible government departments and agencies such as the Department of Defence, Department of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources, The Central Environment Authority and the Marine Environment Protection Authority.
