Overview

Petroleum exploration in Sri Lanka began in late 1950s and the activities carried out thus far have been defined as two main periods; 'Old Era' and 'New Era'.

Old Era is the period from 1957 to 1984 and the petroleum data acquired during this period is referred to as 'Vintage Data'.

The New Era is the period from 2001 to the Present and the petroleum data acquired in this period is referred to as 'New Data'.
